Wellington to Auckland cycle race

Sport Manawatu chief executive Trevor Shailer, centre right, and volunteer adviser Leanne Couch, far right, set off on the Palmerston North-Whanganui leg of the Wellington to Auckland cycle race last Tuesday. Four members of Sport Manawatu got on their bikes for Wellington to Auckland cycle race last week. The organisation collaborated with Sport New Zealand to provide riders for the Pahiatua-Palmerston North leg on Monday and the Palmerston North-Whanganui leg on Tuesday. Footy fans are fizzing as Ethkick returns to town

Registrations are already overflowing for this year's Ethkick footy day. The football competition is back and bigger than ever as 40 teams return to the Central Energy Trust Arena for its eighth year running. Committee secretary Mike Sahayam said the registrations were already full, with two teams on standby. He said the sevens-style tournament coincides with the Festival of Cultures and encourages different cultures to come together in celebration.
