Bike Wise Business Challenge

February is Bike Wise Month and Sport Manawatu will be running a huge range of biking events and activities for you to enter.

What is it?

The Bike Wise Battle is about encouraging people who don't normally ride to hop on a bike, give it a go and have fun. That's why the competition rewards those who achieve the highest staff participation rates.

What do I need to do?

You just need to try and get as many of your colleagues to hop on a bike during the Battle period.

They can ride wherever they feel comfortable for 10 minutes or 2kms. The more times they ride gives them a greater chance of winning a prize.

There are some great prizes up for grabs so make sure that you log into the website and record the cycling you complete each day, between 1 February to 28 February 2010. If you miss a day, you won't be disqualified, but you'll miss out on being eligible for that day's daily prize.

What are the rules?

  1. Participants just need to bike once for a minimum of 10mins or 2km
  2. All biking counts (with the exception of stationary bikes)
  3. No motorised bikes allowed. Cycles only.
  4. Honesty is essential for this competition to work. Please be honest and show the integrity that reflects your business practice.
  5. Only biking done between the Battle start and finish dates will count.
  6. If there is evidence of cheating the whole organisation will be disqualified.
  7. All participants must be employees of the organisation.
  8. In the event of a draw in any of the size categories, the winner will be the organisation that has the highest percentage of "Rookie" cyclists on their team. A "Rookie" cyclist is someone who usually never bikes, or who bikes only a few times a year. This data is collected in the survey form that everyone fills out when registering for the Battle.
  9. The minimum size of an organisation or department is 3 people, even if the organisation employs less people than 3.
  10. If a regional branch of an organisation registers itselfas a separate organisation, participation will be counted toward the efforts of that branch only, and not accrued to any parent organisations.
  11. To win a national prize a minimum of 10% or of your department or organisation must participate in the Bike Wise Battle.
  12. The Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into

What can I win?

Prizes for 2010 will include spot prizes for every day of the Bike Wise Challenge. We are giving away a $100 Avanti voucher and a $50 Ground Effect voucher every day for 28 days.

New for 2010 - we have a Hoyts double movie pass to give away each day to a top encourager. All you need to do is get someone to ride a bike (who hasn't biked in over a year) and you will go in the draw to win.

There are three Avanti bikes as prizes that anyone taking part could win.

The top organisation in each size category will receive a voucher towards a morning tea shout (10 to be won). The top organisation and department in each region and size category will recieve a framed certificate to display in their office - and don't forget the bragging rights!!!
