If you want to know what is happening in or Secondary Schools you have come to the right place!  See what our Schools and Students get up to in the sporting world, some of their achievements are truely inspirational.

Our work in secondary schools

MISSACycling

Our main aim is  to help get more  students active in quality sport and recreation programmes.

The secondary school's programme includes running regional sports events, supporting the work of competition providers, assisting schools in developing sport and physical activity planning documents, providing professional development opportunities, resources and working with key stakeholders to advocate for the needs of young people.

Student Star

This section is for a student who has done exeptional work within the school sporting sector.  They might be an athlete, student coach or even an official.

Schools nominate and send in a photo of the person they think deserves to be the student star and the winner will be displayed here!

Kara won the Secondary Schools Sports Awards Supreme female in 2012

She has also gained a sport in the New Zealand Cross Country team to compete ar the world      championships held in Poland this year.

MISSS

Manawatu Inter Secondary School Swimming

Manawatu Inter Secondary School Swimming was a huge success with 114 students participants on the day.

The event ran smoothly and showcased some of the exceptional talent on offer here in the Manawatu.

Manawatu Inter Secondary School Athletics

The manawatu Inter Secondary School Athletics was hosted this year by Awatapu College.  We were blessed with fantastic weather for the event and saw many records broken on the day.

The top performers on the day were encouraged to put themselfs forward for selection at the North Island Secondary School Athletics Championships (NISSA).  This event was held in Masterton this year.  The Manawatu region was well represented, with some of our local athletes taking out some titles.

Tu Toa Netball

The Tu Toa Netball team have had some great victories over the last year. They won the team of the year in the Manawatu Secondary School Sports Awards in 2012 and  have had the following achievements:

 

5 players selected for NNZ Emerging Talent Identification
5 players selected for NZSS Trials
10 players selected for AMSS Training Camp
27 players played for Ikaroa ki te Raki Teams & Squads

This is for a nominated team that have performed exceptionally well, they may have one a NZ Secondary School Championship or just won a game when all was against them. Schools will be asked to send through their nominations and the winner will be displayed here.

 

KiwiSport in Secondary School

KiwiSport is a major initiative that has helped many schools to take part within sports that they may not have been able to without the funding.  Pictures and updates will be found here about the KiwiSport initiatives running in our regions secondary schools.
