If you want to know what is happening in our secondary schools you have come to the right place! See what our schools and students get up to in the sporting world. Some of their achievements are truely inspirational.
Our goal is to increase the number of students active in quality sport and recreation programmes.

Learn to Cheer Project
The 'Learn to Cheer project' was implemented during 2014 and targeted at girls who no longer participated within sport. The main group of participants were previous dancers and gymnasts who had come to the end of their competitive challenges and wanted something new to participate in.
Schools from accross the region got involved with teams from Palmerston North Girls High School and Freyberg showcasing their talent at the Schools showcase as well as at the regional competition, Dannevirke High School developing a team who hopes to compete in the future and other schools getting involved with the in school work shops provided.

This year has been an incredible year for Emily. Back in April 2014 she was chosen to represent NZ at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. On arriving in China they were able to view the horses, then a random draw was made. After 2 days of riding her drawn horse she competed as part of the Oceania team finishing 5th. The after another 4 days of riding was the individual competition - Emily was one of 5 double clear rounds and finished her jump off with fastest clear round.

The team had two fantastic results this year. First they won the North Island Championships and then later they placed first again at the National championships. All the members of the team were also selected to represent New Zealand. The boys also won the National time trial Sir Bernard Ferguson Cup this year.
2014 Manawatu Inter Secondary Schools Cross Country
It was a perfect day for the Manawatu Inter Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships on June 4th. For the first time, the event was held at the Massey Sport and Rugby Institute in Palmerston North.
There was 340 competitors registerd for the event, an all time high! It was fantastic to welcome along a new Secondary School within our region: Cornerstone Christian School and hopefully they will continue to be involved within other Manawatu events.
The most enjoyed part of the course seemed to be the water feature, which ensured that many competitors came back saturated from head to toe.
