Manawatu Inter Secondary Schools Athletics Championships (MISSA)

MISSA is an event looked forward to by students and schools alike every year. It highlights the exceptional athletics talent that lies within the Manawatu Region. Atheletes have to qualify for the event through their own Schools athletics days with the top MISSA performers being selected for the North Island Secondary School Athletics Competition a few weeks later.

Manawatu Inter Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships

The cross country championships see the top eight students from each school within the Manawatu region competing for the title in their grade. Their are three age grades, Junior, Intermediate and Senior with girls and boys categories.  This event is unique since it has a specific AWD wheelchair course and AWD running course.  Even though it is an event for the schools top performers, it demonsrates that Atheletes with dissabilties can excell in their field too.

Secondary School Triathlon Championships

2014 RESULTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE- click the results link at the top of the page!

Triathlon is a growing sport throughout the country and this is clearly seen within the Manawatu. Specifically designed for NCEA students to gain credits in their sports programme the event has given many students a unique opportunity.  The championship sees many potential young Triathletes compete and is enjoyed by many not gaining credits for their study, instead they just want to get out there and show what they have got.  Incorporating Running, Cycling and Swimming it is a versitle sport that requires dedication to each discapline to compete at a high level.

Schools Road Cycling Championships

Having had it's third birthday in June the event is growing in size and displaying some amazing Manawatu talent.  The championship has three events for students to choose from, a points race, hill climb and individual time trail. Years 7-13 can take part in the event with different catagories being offered to suit the age group.

Congratulations to all the competitors at the Manawatu Schools Road Cycling Champs in June- RESULTS ARE HERE!
