Partner Schools

As a partner school, Sport Manawatu will work with you to develop/enhance a physical activity culture specific to your school, where children choose and enjoy physical activity and sport, and school staff have the skills and resources to deliver these experiences.

We will do this by:

  • Understanding your school and its wider community
  • Identifying the   needs of your school
  • Working with you to develop vision and goals
  • Taking that vision and goals and building an action plan that that encourage a sustainable physical activity culture
  • Supporting your school to provide and deliver quality physical activity experiences and development opportunities
  • Conducting evaluation and reviews

Examples of ways we can assist your school:

  • Delivering fundamental movement and basic sport skills workshops for teachers
  • Facilitating professional development for staff in PE and up-skilling in the delivery of sports e.g. gymnastics
  • Enable effective school /club relationships with desired sports to enable more kids to get involved in a sport
  • Providing a point of call for all sporting concerns/ideas/enquires
  • Provide PE curriculum support and promotion of the importance of PE within your school
  • Participation in primary school-centred Sport Manawatu programmes and events as they are developed (e.g. iMove, School Sports World Cup)

The aim of partner schools is to assist schools in becoming self-sufficient in regards to their identified areas of need in Sport and PE.

Sport Manawatu is currently looking for more schools to become Partner Schools. If you would like to discuss the possibility of your school becoming a Partner School, please contact Sport Manawatu
