The Manawatu region is host to an array of sporting venues, some of which are listed below. In addition to these facilities, Manawatu is supported by many recreational areas which include an extensive walkway system, a world class Rose Garden situated in the picturesque Victoria Esplanade and for the more adventurous, mountain-biking tracks in the surrounds of the Ruahine Ranges.

Arena Manawatu

Arena Manawatu is the premier sports and recreation facility serving Palmerston North and the wider Manawatu region.   Situated in the heart of Palmerston North City, Arena Manawatu is easily accessible for event organisers and participants alike.   The 18 hectare complex provides both indoor and outdoor arenas serving the needs of a diverse range of sports.   Within the indoor arenas there are sports markings for 14 courts of basketball and netball, 10 tennis courts, 12 volleyball courts and 49 badminton courts.   More than just a sporting venue, Arena Manawatu also hosts conferences and meetings, exhibitions and tradeshows, concerts, weddings and gala dinners.

Manfeild Park

Manfeild  is one of the most diverse event centres in New Zealand, capable of hosting multiple events at one time. 89 hectares of parkland includes an international motor racing circuit, multi-purpose stadium, 12 meeting/conference rooms, commercial kitchens and large grassed areas.

Mangahao, National White Water Centre, NZ

Mangahao White Water Park is a world class kayaking facility, administered by the Environmental White Water Park Trust. It has a flow of 13 m3.s-1 and a gradient of 6m over the 300m length course. It has a permanent gate system for training and during a normal summer the course has water flowing on a regular basis. Because the site is dam-controlled, flows are held constant, adding to the racing potential.

Tielcey Park

Tielcey Park is built to an international standard and organises and hosts more than 35 equestrian events a year - including clinics with the world's best trainers, practice days, dressage competitions (both registered and unregistered), show jumping, combined training, riding club, pony club and miniature-horse shows. Staff are always happy to field enquiries, and even assist with the running of events.

Endeavour Community Trust Twin Turfs

The facility includes two water-based turfs. The stadium has full lighting and shelters for players and excellent parking. Alongside the  Endeavour Community Trust  Twin Turfs is the Hockey Manawatu pavilion and offices. The pavilion caters for up to 200 people and includes bar, kitchen and lounge facilities. The facility is used predominantly for hockey members but is also available for private functions. Walking distance to CBD, accommodation, and university.

Massey Recreation Centre

The Massey Rec Centre has a weights room, gymnasium, and squash courts. Other features include a boxing room, martial arts room, climbing wall, and outdoor courts for tennis, netball and basketball. Memberships or casual entry passes are available to the community.

Manawatu Community Athletics Track

This facility contains an eight lane all weather track built to IAAF standards. Features include; throwing circles, jump runway and pits, pole vault and high jump areas, steeplechase water jump, centre field and practice throwing area. Adjacent sport's fields are available for warmups and toilets and changing rooms along with a variety of athletics gear are available for hire.

Massey University's Sport and Rugby Institute

Built as a joint venture between Massey University and the New Zealand Rugby Union in 1999, the Sport and Rugby Institute (SRI) is atraining facility for a diversity of sporting codes and a venue for corporate team building, conferences, launches and functions. Features state of the art indoor and outdoor sport facilities, luxury accommodation, multi functional conference rooms, a fully equipped gym.

Fitzherbert Park

Fitzherbert Park is home to all representative and premier cricket in the Manawatu. On the southern side is the beautiful Victoria Esplanade Gardens, 21.3 hectares of native bush, rose gardens and a very large children's playground and all only a few minutes walk to the centre of the City. Facilities available include a pavilion, grandstand and cricket wicket.

Ongley and Manawaroa Parks

These two adjoining parks are host to a variety of different codes throughout the year. Together they boast up to 13 sports fields, six artificial cricket wickets, eight grass cricket wickets, outdoor cricket nets, indoor cricket training facility, changing rooms, toilets and on-site facilities that can be used for offices and functions.

Freyberg Community Pool

Freyberg's aquatic facilities consist of a 25m indoor pool with wheel chair ramp and a safe toddlers' pool joining a beach area for the little ones. The depth of the deep end in the 25m pool allows for Aqua Aerobics classes as well as being able to accommodate Water Safety courses and assess Police Swim Tests.

Bush Sports Park and Stadium Pahiatua

Situated in the heart of Pahiatua, Bush Sports Park and Stadium Pahiatua  is the leading multisport facility in the Tararua.   Catering for many different needs the facility includes two squash courts,  an indoor multiuse stadium, outdoor fields marked for athletics, cricket, football, rugby and touch, full size  hockey turf (includes netball and tennis courts), fully equipped weights gym, function lounge which doubles as meeting/conference room and commercial kitchen.   Event possibilities are endless.

Outdoor facilities: family leisure pool, 50 metre pool for competitive swimming and training; diving pool with a depth of 4.7 metres and a diving tower to allow competitive diving.
