Harden Up!

Winter is just around the corner and with it comes the usual excuses not to be active – too cold, too rainy or too dark. Well too bad, just harden up!

For every excuse not be active there’s always a way to combat it. If you’re the type of person who suffers from a bit of “softitis” during winter and prefers to sit on the couch then at Sport Manawatu we’ve got opportunities for you to get up and moving. Too dark? Put on some high visibility gear. Too rainy? Put on some wet weather gear. Too cold? Put on more clothes – duh! So no more excuses.

If you want a hardened up attitude during winter here are five rules to live by:

  1. The reason why it’s cold and dark is because it’s winter. Accept it and move on.
  2. The weather doesn’t dictate what you can and can’t do. You do.
  3. You will not get sick being active in the cold and rain.
  4. It’s a fine line between cautious and lazy. Which side are you on? No really.
  5. I can do it and I will feel better for it. Now harden up and get out there.

Sport Manawatu’s Harden Up campaign is designed to help motivate you to get active during winter and the colder months. For more information, tips and even prizes click here.
