Sport Manawatu is proud to host a series of health workshops to help our local sporting clubs and communities for FREE (Excludes our Nutrition programme).

The workshops will cover the following topics:

Concussion

A Concussion is a blow or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Also called a mild traumatic brain injury, a concussion can result from a car crash, a sports injury, or from a seemingly innocuous fall. You will walk away from this workshop knowing what the symptoms are and how to identify them and what you need to do about it.

K-Tape
The K-Tape Method is a therapeutic taping technique not only offering your patient the support they are looking for, but also rehabilitating the affected condition as well.
There will be lots of opportunities for practising along with Teresa Dixon from Intrinsic Performance facilitating the workshop.

Sports Massage
Sports massage works deep in the muscles, realigning the muscle fibres and connective tissue, and flushing away the toxins. Regular sessions will increase joint mobility and flexibility, and reduce the risk of injury during exercise. Teresa Dixon of Intrinsic Performance will facilitate a workshop on the when, the how and the why and provide practical opportunities

Planning and managing sessions.

Nutrition Week 1

This workshop will include an introduction in to sports nutrition for adolescent athletes with a focus on fuel and recovery strategies for training, with practical food demonstrations and resources, facilitated by Kate Morland of Studio Rubix

Nutrition Week 2

This workshop focuses on nutrition strategies for competition day & tournaments addressing challenges around travel, eating on the road and away. Interactive food activities included and game day eating plan, facilitated by Kate Morland of Studio Rubix.

Nutrition Week 3

This workshop focuses on special nutrition considerations in sport; with strategies to identify red flags for disordered eating, iron deficiency, low energy availability and how to manage these as a coach, facilitated by Kate Morland of Studio Rubix.

Sports Team Manager

What is the role of manager? What are the managers responsibilities? What does good practice look like? This workshop will answer these questions and provide opportunities for discussion and sharing of experience.
