Experience the spirit of the game

From 2-hour games to 5-day matches, cricket is a fascinating sport that requires incredible individual skills as well as unselfish team play and presents both mental and physical challenges for any athlete.

The Manawatu is renowned for its strong provincial cricket and boasts a number of powerhouse cricket clubs that continuously strive to develop representative cricketers both at Central Districts and NZ level.

Manawatu Cricket Association

The Manawatu Cricket Association is the controlling power in cricket matters for the Manawatu, Palmerston North City, and Tararua districts. The Association was founded by Messrs. A. H. Tompkins and H. P. Lance, who called the first meeting in 1895. At that time there were six clubs belonging to it — Feilding, Palmerston North, Colyton, Carnarvon, Cheltenham, and Birmingham, and the membership was 200. The original colours were light and dark blue, and the first annual subscription was a guinea.
