PNCC - Play Advisor

Palmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city. With small city benefits and big city ambition, Palmy has secured its place on the map as a creative and exciting city, with leading innovation and developments! We’re proud to be a city that includes, supports, connects and uses the talents of the whole community in our pursuit to provide a connected and safe community. We’re also a future-focused city who cares about enhancing our natural and built environment. Our future looks bright, it looks vibrant and progressive.

Do you value the importance of play in the lives of New Zealanders and want to be part of a nationwide workforce making play happen? Play is one of the easiest ways for everyone to be active. Play allows people to experience fun, joy and laughter in a way that is important to them.

We are looking for a Play Advisor for a new two-year role funded by Sport NZ. You will work with Sport Manawatū, Sport NZ, and national and community providers that focus on the wellbeing of children and whānau.

To be successful in this role, you will bring your quality skills and experience in relationship building and analysis, a relevant tertiary qualification, and confidence working from bi-cultural foundations within a multi-cultural community.

You will be able to analyse and assess our activities to understand the current and potential work areas that influence the conditions for play and opportunities within the play system across Palmy.

While being highly organised, you are comfortable with ambiguity and can make quality decisions in a dynamic and challenging setting.

Your relationship-building skills will enable you to form new connections, encourage collaboration and support a strong network of play champions within council. You will feel confident leading this piece of work as an individual contributor and at the same time work effectively across council teams and functions.

Above all, you will have a desire to make a positive difference in your community.

If you’re excited by this role and believe you have the right skills and experience, then please apply now!

Applications close: 11.00 pm, Sunday 4 December 2022

We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and welcome applications from all those suitably qualified for this position.
