The Active Communities Fund will open again for applications in June 2025. These applications will support residents to participate in Active Recreation or sporting activities that start in July 2025.
FUNDING & SPONSORS
Established by the Palmerston North City Council, the Active Communities Fund is here to help people in Palmerston North who are going through tough times financially. It’s for individuals, families, children, and young people who need support to take part in local sport or physical activity.
It can help with things like joining a local club, class, or activity. It does not cover representative teams, travel to rep/high level competitions, or high-performance programmes.
The fund aims to remove barriers to participation through the provision of:
Activity related costs;
Activity related equipment not provided through a club, school or activity provider;
Activity uniform, clothing or footwear;
Facility fees or Event costs;
Access to one on one or small group coaching;
Opportunities that support a life-long love of being physically active
The concept of the Active Communities Fund has been made possible through the Palmerston North City Council, in order to help individuals, families, children and youth who might be financially disadvantaged to participate in their chosen sport or physical activity.
