From 1 July, the Active Communities Fund is officially open offering a helping hand to individuals, families, children, and young people in Palmerston North who are facing financial challenges.
Established by Palmerston North City Council, this fund is designed to break down barriers to participation in local sport and recreation. Whether it’s joining a club, taking part in a class, or accessing coaching, the fund aims to make it easier for more people to stay active, connected, and involved.
The support can cover a range of activity-related costs, including:
Club or activity fees
Uniforms, footwear, or gear not provided by a club or school
One-on-one or small group coaching
Facility or event entry fees
Opportunities that encourage a life-long love of movement
The fund does not cover representative team costs, travel to high-level competitions, or high-performance programmes — its focus is on supporting local and accessible activity options.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a bit of support to get active, the Active Communities Fund could be just the ticket.
